Gyukgums Pre-arranged attack and defense sequences trained with a partner. Gumbup Patterns where students learn the thousands of ways to move and cut with the sword in a fluid motion. Baegi The application of training on a target such as, apples, paper, tatami mat, straw and bamboo. |

| Haidong Gumdo is a Korean style of swordsmanship that translates to "Eastern Sea Swordsmanship." It was developed for fighting multiple opponents on a large scale battle setting as well as one-on-one combat with the sword. Haidong Gumdo is a fluid yet powerful style of swordsmanship that uses a variety of creative drills to develop and improve each practitioner's skills. Although the days of using swords to fight battles are over, learning the way of the sword provide us a way to connect with those ancient warriors that lived by a code of honor and develop our own inner warrior spirit. |
| The techniques and movements of Haidong Gumdo are best explained as poetry in motion as they are beautiful and dynamic, with emphasis on balance, fluidity, power, accuracy and focus. Haidong Gumdo teaches more than how to use a sword, the vital mental training and physical conditioning molds the practitioner into one that respects and strives to improve the world around them.
